Sharing and review

How do I password-protect a link?

Set a password when you create a review or delivery link. People who got the link by email do not have to type it.

The password is set on the link, when you create it, and it lives under Advanced because most links do not need one.

  1. In the Share or Delivery panel, click Create a review link.

The Create a review link button under the existing links
  2. Open Advanced, which holds the label and the password.

The create form with the Advanced section ringed
  3. Type the password in.

The password field, with an eye icon to check what you typed
  4. Create the link. If you entered an address, the password goes in the email with it, so the person you sent it to does not have to type anything. Someone forwarded the bare URL does.

Five wrong attempts locks that visitor out for fifteen minutes. It is stored hashed, so we cannot show it back to you later; the eye icon beside the field lets you check it before you save, and after that the only way to change it is to set a new one.

A password is worth setting on anything unreleased. It is the difference between a link that leaked and a link that leaked and played.
