What is the streaming loudness preview?
Preview a master at selected streaming loudness references. Actual playback depends on the service, settings and device.
Select a platform in the review player to preview a loudness reference. The readout shows the selected target, the measured loudness and the calculated gain change. References include Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Tidal, Amazon Music, TikTok and Bandcamp.
The preview turns a loud master down and, where the service does, turns a quiet one up. How it does that depends on the reference:
- Spotify Normal and Quiet: a quiet master is raised only as far as its peaks allow, with no limiter.
- Spotify Loud: a quiet master is raised through a limiter that approximates Spotify’s published settings.
- Apple Music and the other services: Soneam’s listening model. It is not guaranteed to match each service’s own processing.
- YouTube and TikTok are previewed as turning loud masters down only, and Bandcamp has no normalization adjustment.
These are estimates. They do not reproduce every service mode, encoder or playback device. The adjustment applies to playback only while a platform is selected. It does not change the source file or establish a required mastering target. Choose Off to hear the master at its delivered level.
